Madrone provides archaeological services for a variety of projects from small, privately owned properties, to large multi-component developments. In British Columbia, the Heritage Conservation Act requires that archaeological sites be left undisturbed or be properly excavated by an archaeologist. Madrone has archaeologists to assist you with obtaining a Provincial heritage permit and conduct archaeological studies.
Madrone works with all levels of government through a variety of projects; we continuously provide innovative techniques to ongoing areas of research and our professionals are called upon to provide professional opinion on evolving legislation and regulations within our fields of practice. Madrone provides sound scientific data that is integrated into province-wide databases in the fields of wildlife population and habitat modeling and terrestrial ecosystem mapping on a regular basis.
Madrone’s team of biologists, ecologists and wildlife specialists offer a wide range of experience in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem analysis, wildlife assessments, habitat analysis, fisheries assessments and species inventory. Our work has led to recommendations for the rehabilitation of damaged sites, habitat restoration and monitoring, and the development of balanced management plans. We have experienced hydrologists who are qualified to provide professional services related to surface water and groundwater testing and assessment and emergency response. Our clients come from a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, public, industrial, agricultural and natural resources.
Analysis of geographic information and mapping is core to Madrone’s services. We have an expert staff of GIS specialists to assist in completing projects as well as developing unique mapping products for our clients. Our GIS and mapping services are available to our clients to assist them in analyzing and presenting their data according to their project needs.
Western Canada is constantly growing, and so is the infrastructure needed to support it. Madrone is able to provide a variety of services that include upstream and downstream assessments, continuous and long-term monitoring projects, fish and amphibian salvage, rare plant surveys, invasive species monitoring, site remediation, and more.
Madrone offers several services to First Nations clientele, including conducting and reviewing Traditional Use Studies and Environmental Assessment referrals. Madrone can draft protocol agreements on behalf of First Nations for environmental and cultural heritage agreements. We can act as a liaison between various governmental agencies and developers alike, and we offer capacity building through training and mentorship opportunities.
Madrone’s team of highly qualified agrologists, with expertise in soil survey, soil mapping, soil conservation, and erosion and sediment control, have worked throughout British Columbia on a wide variety of projects. Soil surveys have been conducted for soil and agricultural assessments, fill placement plans, contaminated sites investigations, and for Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM).

As a result, we are able to interface with internal government systems and have built strong relationships across a range of individuals and departments.
Madrone provides environmental support to First Nations across BC through dedicated relationship building and a commitment to reconciliation. We provide technical expertise for First Nation Governance as the Province implements the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA). We assist in developing Land Use Plans and Environmental Assessment referrals, ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are integrated into land and resource management decisions. Our team is experienced in drafting protocol agreements for environmental and cultural heritage matters and act as a liaison between governments, developers, and First Nations. Additionally, Madrone is committed to capacity building, providing training and mentorship opportunities to empower indigenous communities in managing their environmental and cultural resources.
