Agrology
If it is soil-related, Madrone has the expertise to assist. Madrone’s team of highly qualified agrologists have worked throughout British Columbia on a wide variety of projects, ranging from single-visit surveys on individual properties to multi-year assessments across full ecosystems.
Madrone’s agrologists utilize their field and research experience to conduct soil surveys and
agricultural assessments. We have developed fill placement plans, classified ecosystems, and
regularly conduct Land Capability for Agriculture (LCA) Assessments, through which we assist
clients in proposed soil importation, farm plan development, and in understanding their
property’s agricultural capability.

Madrone is also experienced in reclamation and restoration. We assist our clients with reclaiming degraded agricultural land and restoring it to pre-existing or improved conditions in order to regain agricultural capability. At all times, Madrone agrologists utilize their expertise to determine the appropriate actions required to reclaim soils while keeping the desired end goals for land use in mind.
Understanding the importance of water and drainage for agriculture is top of mind. Madrone’s team has expertise in conducting Water Management assessments, where we evaluate on-site
conditions and provide recommendations concerning whether there is excess water (and drainage issues) or a lack of water (and storage needs). On the opposite end of the agriculture-water relationship, we have experience determining how agricultural plans will affect local hydrology and can provide appropriate recommendations to avoid impacting nearby systems.

This can include Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) plans along with Best Management Practices (BMPs) to ensure projects limit the potential for sedimentation in watercourses and sensitive riparian areas.
Across every type of project, our professional reporting meets and exceeds standards identified by the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) and applicable federal, provincial, and municipal regulations. Madrone’s agrologists stay up to date with new requirements and novel insights into soil and agrology throughout British Columbia.
