Biology

Our Wildlife Ecologists, Aquatic and Fisheries Biologists, and Vegetation Ecologists offer a comprehensive range of services in support of natural resource development, species-at-risk management, ecological research and mapping, riparian area assessments, and more. With indepth knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation, our professionals have contributed to the development of balanced, sustainable management plans across both coastal and interior regions of British Columbia. We often serve as technical experts, collaborating with all levels of government to provide our clients with practical, science-based solutions for navigating environmental regulatory requirements.

Our Vegetation Ecologists specialize in detailed mapping and analysis, including rare plant and sensitive ecosystem inventories, ecological restoration, vegetation impact assessments, and invasive species management plans. We have specialized knowledge and expertise in products such as Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM), Sensitive Ecosystem Inventory (SEI), and Vegetation Resources Inventories (VRI). Our ecological restoration services encompass environmental diagnostics, mitigation planning, and full rehabilitation strategies. Restoration efforts target riparian zones, road corridors, decommissioned sites, landfills, and more. We offer support ranging from technical advisory to full-scale project management.

Our Wildlife Ecologists bring extensive experience in inventories and habitat assessments across a wide range of species (e.g., Bear, Elk, Deer, Owls, etc.) and ecosystems. These services complement baseline environmental studies and are often integral to environmental impact assessments. Our team is well-versed in conservation policy and legislation, offering
expert guidance to minimize impacts on sensitive species and habitats. We also design
mitigation strategies and protected conservation networks to maintain biodiversity across
watersheds.

Our Aquatic and Fisheries Biologists provide robust assessments of potential impacts to aquatic systems. Services include baseline fisheries and aquatic wildlife inventories, water testing, sediment analysis, and vegetation surveys. We conduct assessments under BC’s Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) and develop mitigation strategies to avoid or reduce Harmful Alteration, Disruption, or Destruction (HADD) of aquatic and marine habitats.
We support clients with research, permitting, and agency collaboration, including work under
Memoranda of Understanding with regulatory bodies.
